Reptile Expo!

Just received confirmation that I will be heading to the Toronto Reptile Expo on July 24th to peddle my various reptile-related wares.  If you've never been to an expo before it is a fun event to check out, plus you could come see me!  For more info on the expo, go here:

Hope to see you there!

New Herp!

Just a quick one - spent a weekend in Essex County and picked up a new herp for the year - Butler's Garter Snake (a species at risk to boot!).

Butler's Garter Snake (Thamnophis butleri)

More photos soon!

New Camera and Backlog!

I've been doing lots of photography recently, and I have a huge backlog of photos to sort!  It's so tough to sort and edit when the weather's nice and the shooting's good.  Someday I'll get around to it...

On the exciting news side (for me anyway) after months of consideration I finally bit the bullet and bought a new camera body - a Canon EOS 7D.  This is a considerable step-up from my previous body (which has served me well) and I am excited to get it all figured out.  Here are a few shots from the first couple of times out:

Question Mark (Polygonia interrogationis)

Common Whitetail (Libellula lydia)

American Toad (Anaxyrus americanus)

So far so good I think!  More to come!

Lightning!

Excellent storm last night!  Since I have nothing better to do, I spent some time leaning out my back door with my camera.  Managed to snag a couple of lightning shots.  Not the greatest backdrop for lightning photography, but fun nonetheness!

Cloud to Ground Lightning

Cloud to Cloud Lightning

Cheers!

Georgian Bay - Installment #2

Installment #2 is in!  It's a long one...

Widow Skimmer (Libellula luctuosa)

Eastern Pondhawk (Erythemis simplicicollis)

Bullfrog (Lithobates catesbeianus)

Northern Water Snake (Nerodia sipedon sipedon)

Eastern Garter Snake (Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis)

Eastern Garter Snake (Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis)

That's it for now, but I've got more images in the sorting bin so it's just a matter of time!
